Qirion is responsible for designing, building and maintaining high-voltage pylons and lines. A task that, for several reasons, is under stress. The energy transition and the ever-increasing demand for capacity on the power grid has made Qirion too see the need for optimizing their work processes.
Since 2022, Qirion and Aeroscan have been working together to digitize their inspections. Using drones, AI and automation, high-voltage pylons and lines are imaged.
Since then, many flights have been made and several milestones passed. For example, fully autonomous flights have been performed, flight planning software has been implemented and defect detection has been started.
In 2024, Qirion and Aeroscan will continue to optimize the inspection process. More efficient management will be within reach. A large part of Qirion's inspectors will be trained as drone pilots. The ambition for the coming period is therefore to perform every inspection on location with drones.
Check out the developments and get an update on the ambitions for the coming period in the video.
