Digital reconstruction of the Bonifacius Church

The Bonifacius Church in Medemblik dates from as early as 1404. The church is believed to be leaning, so it is important that the dimensions of the church be properly mapped. Archivolt Architects maintains the church and did a very high-quality geometric analysis, using Aespect.

Large dataset specifically for architecture

For the Bonifacius Church, the data was acquired by Aeroscan. This data consists of photography, photogrammetry and laser and is collected from the entire interior and exterior of the object. So also of the tower. For dimensioning, it is essential to achieve very high quality geometry, down to the millimeter.

The data were then processed to different products in Aespect:

  • Pointcloud exterior
  • Pointcloud inside
  • Pointcloud entirely
  • 3D-tiled model (photo realistic 3D model)
  • Inspection photography coupled with 3D model

In addition, files have been created that can be used in software packages dedicated to architecture. Using Aespect, maintenance of the Bonifacius Church has been made easier and Archivolt Architects can see exactly what is needed.
